Gadang upbeat on Danga Bay land
Gadang Holdings Bhd is looking at buying land along the Danga Bay waterfront area after missing the opportunity to do so a couple of years back when land prices in the area were much cheaper. Gadang had missed the oppotunity to acquire land in the sea-fronting area of Danga Bay years ago when prices were about RM150 per sq. ft. Now the average selling price for land in Danga Bay was RM1,000 per sq.ft.

Mah Sing to launch new township in Iskandar
Mah Sing Group Bhd will be launching its fifth township development project in Iskandar Malaysia, which is also the company's biggest township project in the country in the second half of 2014. The proposed township would be on 504.8 ha in the Plentong-Pasir Gudang growth corridor with a mix of landed and high-rise residential properties and commercial units.

Mah Sing has acqired about 547ha of freehold land in Pasir Gudang, Johor, and will develop it into a mega township over the next seven years.The land was purchased for about RM430mil and the money will be paid over four years.

Higher processing fees for foreigners buying Johor properties
Foreigners buying properties in Johor beginning from January next year will have to pay higher processing fees of property ownership instead of the flat rate of RM10,000 now.Under the new rate, foreigners would have to pay between 4% and 5% of the sales price of the properties.

Scientex buys Pine land in Johor
Scientex Bhd has bought two parcels of freehold land in Kulai, Johor from Pine Plantation Sdn Bhd for RM28.5mil, bringing its total undeveloped landbank to 415ha. Scientex plans to build affordable residential homes on the two lands, which measure a total of 19.59ha. The land are only 1km from Kulai town as well as a major shopping mall. It is within 2km to the North South Highway via the Kulai toll plaza.

China firm to launch maiden Malaysia project
China's seventh largest property developer Country Garden (Holdings) Ltd expects to launch its maiden project in Malaysia on August 11, just eight months after purchasing the land. Country Garden Danga Bay with a gross development value of RM10bil, is the company's first self project outside China. It will be developed via unit Country Garden Danga Bay Sdn Bhd.

Highest residential tower to be built in Johor Bahru
The tallest residential tower in the country peaking at 304m above sea level will be constructed in the next four years. Each unit is expected to be valued at between RM2mil and RM8.45mil. Prices will start from RM900 per sq.ft. It will be built at the site of the current Hockey Stadium and Johor Bahru Indoor Stadium. The project, to be developed by Astaka Padu Sdn Bhd, will have a first phase of mixed development which includes two condominium towers, one with 70 floors and the other with 65 floors.

AEON buys land in Johor to build mall
Aeon Co (M) Bhd, the country's largest department store-cum-supermarket, is expanding its presence in Johor with the purchase of a 20.93 acre piece of land from Johor Land Bhd for RM70.2 million or RM77 per sq.ft for building a shopping mall. The land is part of a mixed development project known as Bandar Dato' Onn.
